I'm Dreaming of a.....ChristmasFest!

Well, the proverbial cat is officially out of the bag! Fee Hedrick has shared, publicly, their plans concerning the greatly anticipated Smoky Mountain Opry Christmas Spectacular’s ChristmasFest at the Opry, a jolly, jaw dropping festival located in front parking lot of the theater at traffic light 0.

Guests upon entering the ChristmasFest, will be overwhelmed by the selection of rides and activities such as: a Ferris wheel, a Christmas Carousel, a Himalaya, a Santa train, spinning Christmas bears, an Alpine Racing Sled, and let’s not forget about the HUGE covered ice skating rink! This rink is complete with skate rental, changing area, and a place for folks to just sit back and enjoy the view. Children may also spend time with Santa Claus and his LIVE reindeer (photos will be available.)

But wait, there’s more! ChristmasFest has something for all ages. Whether it is taking a ride on their horse drawn carriage rides or a stroll through the Arts and Crafts Village, guests will be swept away with Christmas Spirit. Should they get hungry, they can fill up on Wassail, hot chocolate, popcorn balls, roasted nuts, and other Christmas themed menu items provided by food vendors.

One of the most LIP SMACKABLE features of the festival is a S’mores Pit. Guests will be able to roast their own ewwy, gooey marshmallows to their hearts delight. This mouth watering treat is the epitome of an outdoorsy Christmas eat!

Speaking of outdoors, the ChristmasFest and Smoky Mountain Opry Christmas Spectacular (heavily peppered with lighted trees and garland) will feature an outdoor synchronized light show every 30 minutes all choreographed to Christmas music. An entertainment stage will also be available and community choirs and featured performers will play for the live crowd.

While specifics on the Smoky Mountain Opry Christmas Spectacular are being kept as tightly under wraps as a Christmas present, we do know that there plans to be an INCREDIBLE indoor laser light and special effect show. This, too, shall be choreographed to Christmas music. There will also be a BRAND NEW stage, floating musicians, and flying sugar plum fairies.

Well, there you have it folks. The imagination and creativity over at Fee Hedrick knows no end, but maybe that is what we all need and ESPECIALLY at Christmas time. The Smoky Mountain Opry Christmas Spectacular opens November 4th and the ChristmasFest opens November 1st.Visit their website today at www.SmokyMtnOpry.com! Hope to see you there:)

Pigeon Forge "Premiere"

As you cruise along the Parkway of Pigeon Forge, it isn't hard to spot the stunning and pristine shopping complex, Walden's Landing, and all it has to offer the public. It is home to incredible features such as: Firehouse Golf, the NEW and AMAZING Tomb, Red Rocket, Calhoun's, Smoky Mountain Brewery, Birkenstock, and The Forge Cinemas. Both guests to the area and locals alike flock to the theater each week to relax in their cozy chairs and watch the most current releases on state of the art technology.

On July 1st, guests to the complex could even enjoy the rich history of the town encompassing them via the film, "Cornfields to Condos." It traces the roots of Pigeon Forge, which just celebrated its 5oth anniversary of incorporation, from its first settlement through present day. This film is the brainchild of locals including city historian, Vita King and Derek Roominess, technical coordinator for Pigeon Forge Library.

The film was shown at 10 a.m. FREE to the public at The Forge Cinema and lasted approximately 40 minutes long. It involved an array of pictures from years past alongside a narration. The DVD is soon to be released. So watch for it!

Pigeon Forge Gets AWESOME New Attraction

So you think you're smart do you? Well then, you should visit the newest attraction to come to Pigeon Forge, Tomb. Located in the popular Walden's Landing Shopping Center, it was developed by Ned Vikers. The attraction itself resides in a “pyramid” fully equipped with guides in costume. When guests come in, they are taken out in tour groups and explained the storyline. The sole purpose of the attraction is to solve multiple tasks and puzzles over the course of a half hour testing your strength, memory, and intellect. Not only are you racing against the clock at some points, but you can also trigger other boobie traps.

The challenges start off fairly easy then increase in difficulty. The guide helps you along the way should you need any help. All of this takes to an Indiana Jones-like backdrop. Guests travel from one dark, eerie chamber to the next. Their advancement is based on their ability to solve the challenge they are faced.

I really enjoyed this attraction. I thought I would do fairly well at solving the puzzles, but I found the “kick in the pants” refreshing. Everything about this place was unique and stimulating. This is exactly what our area needs. I especially liked the friendliness and excitement that the workers showed. It has my vote and I recommend it to anyone:) Check it out...http://www.tombadventure.com/

Hooray "Hatfield & McCoy's" Finally Here!

Well, it has been 6 months since it was first announced that the much loved Black Bear Jamboree and Black Bear Jamboree Christmas Spectacular would have their last season. Opening day, May 26th, has came and went and things are going SPECTACULAR! Now, both David Fee and Jim Hedrick are known for their creativity and quality when it comes to putting together a production. Never in a million years did anyone have a clue as to what was to come when they decided the shows would be replaced by Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show. Ideas were tossed around and sketches passed about, but all seemed so unreal. These two men took their dream and held on to it till the very end. The imagination of Fee and Hedrick is an inspiration to ALL ages.

All of Sevier County and guests traveling through witnessed your seemingly average theater morph into a feud-friendly setting consisting of two worn down cabins complete with graves, clothes line, and chicken coupes. It sure took a whole lot of elbow grease and manpower to look that Country. If you have ever had the pleasure of reading Snuffy Smith Comics, you could very well picture what the theater now looks like. Personally, I couldn't tell you whether the outhouse or the junked truck out front was the proverbial "icing on the cake." All of it comes together so perfectly like some kind of hillbilly wonderland with the jubilant twang of Bluegrass to comfort you as you walk toward the doors. I refuse to reveal what splendid and creative secrets lie behind the entry way. This is something you HAVE to see for yourself to believe.
