August: Smoky Mountain Civil War & Relics Show
In light of this being the month that we honor veterans, it makes perfect since that Smoky Mountain Resorts, The Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy would present the Smoky Mountain Civil War & Relics Show. It is to be held at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center in Pigeon Forge on August 28th and 29th. Reenactors will participate in historically accurate portrayals of U.S. and Confederate military units. The encampment will show how soldiers lived and fought during the four year battle. There will be approximately 100 tables of authentic Civil War era muskets, rifles, pistols, photos, uniforms, and other items of interest. Tickets are $8.00 for both days and $4.00 for ages 12 and under.

August: Remember Our Veterans
We are right at the heart of the dog days of summer. It is a time to send the children back to school and get back into the swing of things. More importantly, it is a time to remember the the men and women who serve and have served this great nation in the armed forces. They are the pride of the United States. We dedicate the entire month of August honoring these heroes. They have made the ultimate sacrifice: placing their lives in harm's way for our freedom's sake. A simple “thank you” does not seem enough. In fact, in recognition for all they have done, many of our county's businesses are giving a military discount through the 31st of August. Spectacular shows such as: Black Bear Jamboree Dinner and Show, The Smith's Family Dinner Theater, The Grand Majestic Theater, The Blackwoods Breakfast Variety Show, and the smoking hot new Kick 'N Country all offer a military tribute that your loved one is sure to enjoy. Guests get outstanding entertainment and a mouth-watering meal with some of these shows.
Do not leave town, though, without first visiting the Tennessee Museum of Aviation. This is simply a must see for ANY veteran with exhibits from all branches of the military. The staff is wonderfully sweet and museum is filled with amazing war and military memorabilia. It is complete with hangar and gift shop.
These are just some of the places you can go to with that special loved one you're trying to honor this month. There are many, many more. So what are you waiting for? Come see Pigeon Forge – http://www.seepigeonforge.com/
